Lebanese to French leader: keen on uncovering the perpetrators

The dailies An Nahar, Al Liwaa and Al Binaa reported on Saturday that the Lebanese President Michel Sleiman sent a letter to his French counterpart French President Nicholas Sarkozy, in which he renewed his condemnation of “the terrorist attack on the soldiers of a friendly state whose people and government have always committed to maintaining peace in general and in Lebanon and the south in particular.”

He noted that “similar terrorist attacks not only target France but also UNIFIL and the Lebanese people’s security and stability.”

The Lebanese President reiterated his “commitment to investigate and uncover the perpetrators.”

He noted that “the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) had already taken practical measures in coordination with UNIFIL to avoid any similar act and to react immediately upon its occurrence,” hoping that “the strategic review being conducted currently between UNIFIL and LAF would lead to activating the mechanisms of the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and their role.”
